Preparing for Intravenous Anesthesia Sedation

Your Safety Comes First

At Yorba Linda Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, we prioritize your safety and well-being. To ensure a successful procedure with intravenous anesthesia sedation, it is vital to adhere to the following guidelines:

Fasting: Avoid consuming any food or beverages, including water, for a minimum of eight hours before your appointment.

Smoking: Refrain from smoking at least 12 hours before the surgery. We encourage you to reduce or quit smoking as you approach the surgery date.

Accompaniment: Ensure a responsible adult accompanies you to our office, stays during the procedure, and drives you home afterward.

Post-Surgery Restrictions: Abstain from driving or operating heavy machinery for 24 hours post-surgery to ensure your safety.

Dress Appropriately: Opt for loose clothing with sleeves that can be rolled up past the elbow and wear low-heeled shoes for your comfort and convenience during the procedure.

Remove Accessories: Please remove contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures before the surgery to avoid any complications.

Minimal Makeup: Avoid wearing lipstick, excessive makeup, and nail polish on the day of your appointment.

Health Updates: Keep us informed if you experience any health issues such as a cold, sore throat, or stomach upset before your surgery date.

Medication Consultation: If you are on any routine oral medications, consult with our team at (714) 515-6364 for guidance on medication management leading up to the surgery.

By following these guidelines, you help us ensure a smooth and successful procedure. Your cooperation is highly appreciated.
